Scott Martinson MPH MS RS
Director of Health
Chris began her career in Old Saybrook as a records clerk for the Old Saybrook Police Department. In 1999, she became an administrative assistant for the First Selectman. When the Connecticut River Area Health District formed in 2006, Chris transferred to the health district and has served as its first and only Office Manager. Chris is a long time resident of Old Saybrook where she lives with her husband Steve.
Sherry has been a registered nurse for 28 years in varying fields of nursing. Sherry began working in trauma and heart transplants at Hartford hospital and has been with CRAHD as the Public Health Nurse and Emergency preparedness coordinator since 2009. Sherry has her Bachelors degree in Nursing and Biology from St. Joseph University and her Infection Prevention studies since 2005. Sherry also teaches allied health at Three Rivers Community College.
Sherry Carlson BSN RN
Public Health Nurse Supervisor
Shelby has been a registered nurse for five years among several settings including cardiothoracic surgery, clinical research and neurology. Prior to earning her nursing degree at the University of Connecticut, Shelby earned her Master’s in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Springfield College, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention which has complemented her interest in public health. Shelby has been with CRAHD assisting with vaccinations and health education.
Registered Sanitarian/Health Educator
Scott has been in the field of public health for over 20 years. He started his pubilc health career in Clinton, CT and then worked for the Town of Old Saybrook until the Town became part of the newly created Connecticut River Area Health District. Scott was a key component in the formation of the District and he is currently the Director of Health. Scott has an undergraduate degree in Public Health from Southern CT State University a Masters degree in Health Administration from the University of New Haven and a Masters degree in Public Health from Walden University.
Steven Yenco RS
Chief Registered Sanitarian
Employed in Public Health for 16 years, Steve began with the Colchester Health Department and transitioned to the Chatham Health District prior to joining CRAHD. Previously, Steve worked extensively in the food service industry and provided training, speaking and consultative services internationally. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, and holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of New Haven. Steve is a member of the Connecticut Environmental Health Association.
Ryan Grenon MPA RS
Ryan has been in the field of Public health for over 20 years. He started his career as a Sanitarian working for the town of Madison. After leaving Madison, he became Town Sanitarian for the Town of Clinton and transferred to CRAHD when the district was created. After a period of years living out of the state, Ryan returned to Connecticut. He worked again as a Sanitarian for the Trumbull-Monroe Health District and more recently joined CRAHD staff in January of 2015.
Ryan is certified in Food, on-site sewage disposal, lead inspection, and is a Certified Pool Operator(CPO). Ryan has an undergraduate degree in Public Health from Southern Connecticut State University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of New Haven.
Greg Mattus RS
Rebecca has been employed in Public Health for over 6 years. Prior to joining CRAHD she worked for the Central Connecticut Health District as the Registered Sanitarian for Wethersfield. She then took some time off to be with her growing family. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University.
Greg has been in the field of Public health for over 18 years. Prior to joining CRAHD he started his career working for the CT Department of Environmental Protection Water Bureau. He started work as a Sanitarian for the Town of Newington, and then for the towns of Wethersfield, Berlin, and Rocky Hill as part of a health district. Greg is certified in food service, on-site sewage disposal, and lead inspection. Greg has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science from the University of Connecticut and is currently working on his Master’s Degree at Wesleyan University in Middletown.
Alyssa is a recent graduate from Southern Connecticut State University where she received her bachelor's degree in Public Health. She began her career at the Wallingford Health Department as a Health Educator before joining CRAHD as a sanitarian.
